Fit perfectly, most parts are OEM replacement Jan 23, 2012
By James Fit my 97 Subaru Legacy 2.2L perfectly.
The belt (a Gates T254 Timing Belt) was made in the USA and is made with HSN (highly saturated nitrate), which provides for long life and is designed to last the 105K specified by California models.
Two smooth idlers (Gates T42194 Timing Idler) are included, both made in Japan by Koyo (same as OEM).
One toothed idler (Gates T42024 Cam Gear) was made in Japan by NSK, which is also the same as OEM.
The tensioner pulley (Gates T41063 Belt Tensioner) was made in Japan by GMB. OEM was NSK. I matched this up with a new gates tensioner (Gates T43204 Timing Idler).
For installation, just make sure you line up the 3 notches (two on the cam sprocket and 1 on the crank sprocket). You don't need to worry about finding TDC for the compression stroke or anything like that. If you're not planning on replacing the oil seals, you can leave the radiator in, however, I would cover it up with cardboard to protect it from damage. I needed an assistant to get the belt on (the extra set of hands really help). We saved the lower passenger side idler for last, and left the toothed idler a little loose to get the belt on.
