Good product Jan 19, 2011
By A. Schumann Installed these struts on our 2005 Chrysler Town & Country without any major issues, the most difficult task was removing the sway bar links. In all, I replaced the struts, the sway bar links and bushings, and the shocks (same Monroe family). After the installation I had the vehicle aligned, and the shop thought it was a waste of money to have replaced the strut bolts, as recommended by Monroe: so skip this replacement item and save the 20 bucks. Additionally, I had to retighten the strut mounting nuts after the units seated themselves. I also needed to retighten the sway bar link nuts at the same time. The ride has dramatically improved, but I would label it as stiff.

Quick and easy, huge improvement in ride Nov 19, 2010
By Dave A local shop wanted $900 parts and labor to replace the struts and shocks on my wife's Grand Caravan. I got the same parts (these struts and monroe shocks for the rear) for about 1/3 their price on amazon (local auto parts stores were cheaper than the repair shop but still higher than amazon). Installation was pretty straight forward and took about 2 or 3 hours. Would have been about an hour but I stripped a nut and had to cut and replace a $10 stabilizer arm and grind off the bolt (adding an extra hour or so for a trip to the auto parts store). There was a little bit of a learning curve on the first side I tackled (including stripping that nut on the stabilizer arm) but the second side took me literally 15 minutes to swap out once I had the tire off. Another $70 for a professional alignment and I had in it about half the cost I would have paid a shop to do it (and their quote didn't include alignment). If you have some mechanical skills, a shop manual (or Haynes, Chilton, etc.), decent mechanics tools, and a torque wrench, this job is really pretty simple. An impact wrench doesn't hurt either but isn't necessary (and might save you from stripping a nut . The van sits an inch higher and rides so much better...probably like new but that was 70k miles ago so I guess I'd forgotten what that felt like. Very happy with this product. Great price, relatively simple install, and excellent performance.

By Brent A. Johnson very quick arrival and good price, somewhat easy to install, but using a lift is definitely easier, some of the old bolts may be difficult to get off
Left and right did not match Apr 12, 2011

I ordered a pair of 171572's and ended up returning them because the spring diameters did not match. Take a close look at what you get from Monroe before installing it. I have had mixed luck... sometimes great, sometimes not so. I ended up returning them, and purchasing struts and mounts without the springs, plus strut compressors. More work but saved me money in the long run when I ended up replacing struts on a second car.
Pesky upper sway bar link nuts Mar 05, 2011
By Thomas M. Stybr Installed on 2001 Grand Caravan ES with 150K miles. As mentioned, the sway bar link nuts common to the struts are difficult to remove. Mine proved impossible though the nuts common to the sway bar came off fine. Be prepared with new sway bar links or make sure you can move these nuts before starting this job. Beyond this issue, replacement went very smoothly and the post-job alignment was almost unnecessary according to the shop. Replaced rear shocks at same time. Handling and braking is noticeably improved. After a few days of driving the sway bar link nuts needed a retorque.
