"Grand Caravan DIYer"
I bought 171572 L & R. For DIYers, the quick strut makes sense unless you have a spring compression tool. And even if you do, its dangerous. With not much more than the tools I need to do most work on my '01 Dodge Grand Caravan, I changed both struts in about 3 hours. The only thing I didn't like was that my original struts have round holes for two straight strut-to-steering knuckle bolts. These Monroe struts require one straight bolt and one cam bolt. Though I try to do my own work to reduce expense, I now have to take the van for an alignment as the toe-in/out needs to be shop adjusted. Otherwise, at $125 each, that's less than 1/2 the parts & labor cost quoted by my local garage.
some good, some bad Dec 16, 2011
By bbiggy I installed a set of these on the front of a 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan about 4-5 months ago and have not been that impressed with them. Installation was fairly easy but did require a front end alignment. Since then I have found that the left front strut assembly is very noisy and they don't seem to give as good of a ride as I was hoping for. The ride is kind of bouncy at times. At the same time I did these two, I installed a set on all four corners of a 1998 Toyota Camry. For the most part I have been satified with the way that that car handles now. It definitely stiffened up the ride as the old struts were completely shot. I'm not sure why the one Caravan strut is so noisy, I guess it was just a reject that made it through quality control. I may end up going back to Monroe to complain and see if I can get a replacement but will then have to have another alignment as well.
Monroe quickstrut Dec 15, 2011
By joe I installed this quick strut in our Chrysler Town & Country minivan. The installation was straightforward. There are 3 bolts on top and two large bolts (pinch bolts) attaching the strut to the wheel. The hardest part of the install was removing the sway bar end link.
there is a YouTube video of the installation process which is very solid.
The strut has been installed for several weeks now and seems to have a much better ride than stock (100k miles).

By Brent A. Johnson awesome product and quick arrival, fairly easy to install, old bolts can be difficult to get off, use a lift, made a big difference in handling
Great Ride Aug 02, 2010
By T I installed these quick struts two months ago. We since took a 3000 mile trip and the ride was very much improved over the stock struts that came with the van. They are very easy to install, but an alignment is required after installation. I also put the load handling sensa track shocks in the rear. They seem to make a little noise when under a light load, but when the entire family is in the van, the ride is excellent.
