5Major improvement in my 1997 B2300  Jul 16, 2011
By Michael C. Luster
Did a full tune up on my B2300 truck and I went with the Bosch Platinum 4 plugs (2 per cylinder) so 8 total, Bosch Plug Wires, New Ignition Coils, new EGR Valve, and new silicon vacuum hoses.

From an install perspective, not having to gap the plugs was a bonus. Essentially you open the box and install the plug. I highly recommend replacing the plug wires at the same time. I went with Bosch Plug Wires for max compatibility.

As far as performance, there is definitely good spark firing in all cylinders. The motor sounds great at low idle and at high RPMs. Make sure you have the right parts for your application and you will be equally pleased.

1Make that 1 star a no star  Oct 21, 2011
By K. Williams "Keldawwg"
I put these plugs in my 1993 Mercedes 400E, along with new distributor caps and rotors and plug wires. (The 400E has two distributors)... This car is a bit of a pain to work on sometimes, so I wanted to put the best of everything in it. It is not a cheap car to tune up, what with the caps costing $75 each, the rotors costing $30 each, and the plug wires running $270...

So with that kind of expense, $5 spark plugs are not a huge deal. Just put me at a little over $500 worth of tune up.

A couple of months later, the car started to stumble and miss at certain mid throttle accelerations... Since all the ignition parts were brand new, I assumed that the day had finally come that the electronic throttle actuator had deteriorated to the point where it would need to be replaced. This part is over $1000 wholesale, and it is a major pain in the butt to replace. But I had already had to replace the entire engine compartment wiring harness, and I just assumed that the same gremlins had attacked the throttle. (Germany is one of the greenest countries on the planet, and the German government had decreed that every bit of plastic in cars must be biodegradeable in a landfill. Unfortunately, due to the fact that all the wiring on a high end car like a Mercedes is hidden underneath covers and tucked right up againt the hot engine, the plastic started to degrade after the cars were only a few years old. When I opened up the harness during a troubleshooting session, I discovered bare wires surrounded by plastic dust... They were all touching and shorting out to each other, causing my fuel injectors to work very intermittantly at best)

So I bought the $1000 electronic throttle actuator, and spent 3 hours replacing it... (About two hours was spent just trying to get the damn spring back on it... It is inaccessible, and you really can't see it without an inspection mirror, and it is just a nightmare to get the thing hooked back up...)

When it was finally done, the car ran exactly the same as it did before... Now I was stumped, and also very angry at spending $1000 that I didn't have to...

I eventually pulled a plug to look at it. Once I had the first plug out, I just kept going because what I saw was so bad that I was shocked! The ground electrodes were very badly eroded; they looked like they had been made of some cheap white-metal like a chinese die cast toy would be made from... Far from lasting forever, these plugs didn't last six months/15,000 miles!

I replaced them with some Nippondenso Platinum single electrode plugs, and the car has run perfectly ever since. It's been a year since I replaced them, and it's still running perfectly...

Never again, Bosch... I learned a lesson about buying Bosch for Japanese cars back in the 80's; the Bosch stuff was total garbage. These spark plugs are now on that list of products to be avoided like the plague...

5The Only Plugs I Use!  Feb 06, 2010
By Joey Joe
I love these spark plugs, I've been using them since the product came out upwards of 8 years ago or so (give or take). The Bosch platinum 4 spark plugs are gap-less, so no messing around with gapping. The four prongs ensure a spark every time (no misfires) and allows the placement of the spark right out at the tip of the plug for better combustion, which also allows for longer plug life with reduced carbon deposition. I ran a set of these for 6 years and never once had a misfire. In fact, the only reason I decided to change them after 6 years was due to a leaky valve cover gasket that leaked around the plugs. Over all, great product, well worth the extra money, with a quality name you can trust - Bosch!

5Great on my 99 Corolla  Jul 17, 2011
By </><
I am normally NOT a fan of Bosch plugs (The 2 prongs are trash). But the Corolla engine has a sticker on the side saying do NOT use standard plugs for it (look on the left side of motor). The auto store I go to did not have the OEM NGK twin plugs, so at first I bought the E3 plugs which look alot like the OEM. Well those worked for just 40,000 then fouled out. A tad too early for my taste and the plugs were just as pricey. So the next alternative was Bosch 4 prongs. I must say they have performed very well. Deff will buy another set when these give out or wear out. Has more Platinum then most plugs according to the box they came out of. The car runs great in them, no stalls, no odd timing, just good smooth performance. Gas mileage is unchanged from when I had the E3 plugs in them, so I cannot say anthing on that end.
