5Where the rubber meets the road  Oct 19, 2007
By Rosemary Thornton "Niece of Addie Hoyt Fargo (age 29)"
For more than 30 years, I've searched high and low for the perfect wiper blade. Being a little tiny bit obsessive about my car, one of the things I can NOT tolerate is a chattering, noisy, smeary, streaky wiper blade. Driving in the rain is hard enough without feeling like you're trying to look through a wax-paper windshield.

In the past, I'd put new wiper blades on my car two or three times a year and sometimes more, just to make sure I never had to deal with wiper smear or worse, wiper chatter. That sound is like fingernails on a blackboard to me!!

I'd also clean the rubber edge several times between blade changes, to keep the leading edge clean and free from debris and gooey tree gunk and junk. Due to my desire to keep the finest quality blades on the car, I'd only buy authentic Toyota blades for my 2003 Camry and then one day...

An associate at the local Toyota dealer talked me into buying the rubber inserts for the blades, rather than the whole blade assembly. For 20 minutes, I waited and watched as she fiddled around trying desperately to get the inserts into the arm assembly. Two days later (and 10 minutes of use later), while driving in a light rain storm, the whole thing came apart in pieces, scratching my windshield in the process. It was a Sunday afternoon (dealer was closed), so I drove directly to the auto parts store and told them I wanted the most expensive wiper-blade they sold. They took me to the Bosch Icon and said, "these are the best, but they're pricey."

I couldn't be more pleased with the quality and performance of this product. The two blades I bought for Cammie cost less than $50 which isn't THAT much contrasted against the frustration of not being able to see clearly through the windshield when it rains.

April 2008 UPDATE: I am on my second pair of Bosch Icons and I'm saddened to say that I am no longer "raving" about these things. While they're just swell for the first 60 days, they deteriorate quickly after that and become streaky and smeary. When I was buying wiper blades for my daughter's car, I asked the auto parts guy about the Bosch Icon. He replied, "I'm not that impressed with them either. They don't last long."

2Good at first, then VERY bad.  Jan 11, 2009
By A. Crawford
After reading many of the user reviews on this product, I thought I was making a great decision buying these. I ignored the occasional negative review and paid a good deal of money for what I hoped was a superior product.

I installed them (easy) and got to use them a week later at the first light rain. They were perfect! For about the first ten minutes... After that short of a time, I instantly noticed a hairline streak on the driver's side wiper. Then a few more hairline streaks just began showing up out of the blue. I even pulled over to visually inspect the blades to make sure no debris was on them. They were simply bad, bad wiper blades that had begun deteriorating rapidly after their first use.

I would not recommend anyone buy this particular brand of wiper. I havent tried competitor's brands of the same "no frame" wiper style, but certainly there is something really wrong with Bosch's rubber.

Today I still have them on because I simply cannot justify replacing them so soon after how much I paid for them. So I grumble and moan everytime it rains and squint my way through the dozens and dozens of hairline streaks that have shown up to date. But it will be a happy day when I finally can take them no more, throw them out, and return to the normal wiper blades we all know and love.

1Junk  Feb 01, 2011
By C. Mitchell
I like and use Bosch wiper blades, but these pieces of JUNK are a JOKE. They DO NOT deal with winter snow and slush and sleet well.

Bosch is pretending that eliminating the open girder (spring frame) work of traditional wiper blades will suddenly yield value by sparing us from having blade ice up, but these blades still accumulate and carry ice crusts and, WORST OF ALL, cease to apply proper uniform pressure to wipe the windscreen!

I'm going back to traditional blades.

1This product does not last!  Oct 26, 2010
By Robert
After reading all the reviews and from Bosch's website, I thought I was buying a product that was top of the line and I was very wrong. I have only had this product installed on my Jeep Grand Cherokee for about 3 months now and they are already done with and need to be replaced. Both blades streak and do not clean the windshield completly at all. I would not recommend wasting your money on this product. I am switching back to Rain-X blades. Good luck if you do buy them!

5Best Wiper Blades Ive Ever Used  Feb 24, 2006
By S. Yannantuono
1st of all I am sure that everyone has hated how ugly the winter wiper blades are, they are bulky, and just do not look good. Now the ICONS are sleek and small, they look great! They perform awesome in all weather conditions(I have used them in rain, sleet, and snow, and in a blizzard) they handle everything perfectly. No annoying streaks, and they sweep everything away, the do not miss anything!! Sure they are more expensive than other blades, but you really do get what you pay for! Awesome wiper blades I would recommend them to EVERYONE!
